Registry Space Profiler Review by:
Registry Space Profiler is a very informative program. The program enables you to see just how large the registry hives are. Another important feature is that the program is useful whether you clean your registry hives or not. Like the name suggests, it is a registry space profiler. The program lets you check and calculate registry hives without having to install anything. You can easily reach out to the registry hives and the program can give you a breakdown of what is inside of each hive. The developer of the program updated the program in 2012. This program is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows Server.

There are a lot of registry cleaner applications on the market. They are all variations of the same thing and they all promise to make your registry clutter free but do they really work

Registry Space Profiler Free License Key [Win/Mac]

Registry Space Profiler is a program that allows you to see the size of different sections of the Windows registry. The registry contains thousands of configuration files, but most of it is unusable.
To use it, you’ll need to run it with administrative permissions. You can open it using your system security dialog. Right-click on the desktop and select “Run as administrator”.
It can also run in non-administrative mode, but in that case the application needs to have a user account with proper access privileges. If you don’t have administrative access, then it may appear to be a problem with your OS.
Tables are displayed in several formats, including:

Registry hives, which display the location of each registry hive (root key) and the size of the key.

Normal entries, which display only the keys in their data or subkeys sections.

Entire keys, which display the entire key, including the key’s name and parent key.

Raw key and file entries, which display information about the key and file.

A summary, which includes information about the total registry size, the total size of each type of key, and the total size of each item in a key.

A side-by-side comparison, which can be used to show differences in registry key size.

You can select any amount of data from the program to export to a file. Each tab is exported to a separate file. An exception is the header tab, which is exported to a single file.
An XML file is generated with the info about each hive. The header of the XML file contains information about the hive’s location (key path), name, and parent, which can be used to manually open the hive in another program. A sample of the XML file is included in the zip file.
Each registry hive displays a data summary at the bottom of the table. These summaries are not very useful on their own because they include too much data. The summary of a hive, however, can be used to compare hive size with the summary of another hive.
The statistics calculated by the program are not entirely accurate. The most noticeable errors are an underestimation of total registry size and an overestimation of the size of all registry hives. Registry hives in subkeys and in the HKCU registry hive are considerably larger than they appear to be. The program’s methods of determining registry size have not been completely tested.

What’s New in the Registry Space Profiler?

This is a lightweight scanner that will help you analyze the size of the Windows registry. Simple to use and will quickly scan your entire registry to find and graphically display any areas that may be using more space than they should.
You may optionally filter the list of subkeys to only show items larger than a certain size.

Syntax and usage:

Type in the full path to a registry hive you wish to analyze.
To analyze only specific registry keys, enter their full path.
Registry Space Profiler will launch and once it has finished running, a tab will appear in your task bar.

You may then click on this tab to display the results of your analysis. If you click the icon in the lower left of the window, a configuration dialog will appear.

Type in the username of a Windows account that you wish to use to open the registry key. If you do not wish to use a certain account, simply leave this field blank.

Type in the password of that account. If you do not wish to use a particular password, simply leave this field blank.

Select the browser that you wish to use to browse the registry hive. You may use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any browser.

You may also opt to view the registry as a CSV file. Simply select the CSV tab at the top of the configuration window and choose a location on the filesystem from which to open the registry hive to dump its contents.

You may then start the Registry Space Profiler and view the results in any spreadsheet program. When finished, simply close the program to return to the configuration window.

Registry Space Profiler is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2.0, it is offered free of charge, and it may be downloaded here.

This is actually a handy program for doing a little self-maintenance for my XP-based computer. Having a system with so many tiny, dangling little remnants of old programs hanging around is really (or at least it has been) a bit of a mess. I did not realize until today the extent to which my load of programs tend to eat a lot of space.
Here’s a list of all the items, complete with links to their source code and description.
In the RegSrv32 folder you’ll find a few shell scripts that help clean up after other programs.
